2021 - 2022
Troy Democratic Club Executive Board

Hirak Chanda

Why I joined the Troy Dems:

"The TDC allows me to promote our Democratic values right here in a city that I am proud to call home. As a progressive Democrat, I stand on the left side of the political spectrum and end up on the right side of history."

Larry Winkie

Why it's important to be involved: "As soon as any man says of the affairs of State, 'What does it matter to me?' the State may be given up for lost." – Jean-Jacques Rousseau in The Social Contract.

Kate Goodin

Corresponding Secretary

Why I joined the Troy Dems:

"As a first-generation daughter, I was always reminded of the opportunities America offers. I know it is true and I want to see the opportunities grow for all of us equally."

Padma Kuppa

Why I joined the Troy Dems:

"I love being part of a group of people with shared values and working with them to help others and to create a better world right here in Troy. From properly funding our children's education and our infrastructure, to protecting our environment – whether it's our green spaces or Great Lakes – plus the myriad issues in between, being involved can make a difference."

Vice Chair

Why it's important to be involved: "Belonging doesn't require us to change who we are. It requires us to BE who we are." – Brene Brown

Hitesh Patel

Recording Secretary

Why I joined the Troy Dems:

"TDC provides a great opportunity to be a link between your community and the Democratic Party. For me, involvement in the community and city government is very important, because we live here and our children go to school in this city."

Steve Sadlier

Why it's important to be involved:

"There are many ways individuals can work to protect our democracy right here locally. You don't have to do them all; just do as many as you can. As Mahatma Gandhi stated, 'Whatever you do may seem insignificant to you, but it is most important that you do it.'"

Jesse Chvojka

Why I joined the Troy Dems: "There is so much cynicism in the world today and it gives me hope to work with so many local people fighting for a fairer and more equitable community."

Kathleen (Kathy) Martin

(Mrs. or Ms.)

Why it's important to be involved: "When I first became involved with the Troy Democratic Club in 2007, we were a very small group and had almost no representation in public offices. We had to fight to keep our Troy Library open and to recall an extreme-right mayor. Now we have a majority representation on the City Council and Democratic representation all the way up to President of the United States. Our next goal is to achieve a majority in the Michigan Legislature."
